Scientists reported on Friday that a gigantic fossilized skull dating back at least 140,000 years has been identified as a new species of ancient human, a discovery that could redefine how — and even where — our species, Homo sapiens, originated.      The skull of an adult guy with a large brain, gigantic brow ridges, deep-set eyes, and a bulbous nose was discovered. After a labourer discovered it at a building site in China, it had been hidden in an abandoned well for 85 years.      The new species was given the name Homo longi, and the nickname "Dragon Man" was given to it after the Dragon River region of northeast China, where the skull was discovered.      According to the researchers, Homo longi, not Neanderthals, was the most closely linked extinct human species to our own. If validated, it would affect how scientists see Homo sapiens' origins, which have been built up over time through fossil finds and ancien...

Android users Alert: Beware of these eight apps with "Joker" malware

A few Google Play Store apps were found to contain the Joker virus. The malware infiltrates a user's device via programmes, silently collects data, and then subscribes these users to premium memberships without the user's knowledge or agreement.

For three years, the Joker Trojan malware has been discovered in Google Play Store apps. Quick Heal Security Labs recently discovered 8 Joker malware on the Google Play Store. These eight apps were reported to Google, and the company has since deleted them all from its store.

The following are the eight apps that have recently been discovered to be infected with the Joker Trojan virus and should be deleted from any Android device:

  1. Super SMS
  2. Super Message
  3. Fast Magic SMS
  4. Go Messages
  5. Element Scanner
  6. Travel Wallpapers
  7. Auxiliary Message
  8. Free CamScanner
Through SMS messages, contact lists, and device information, the Joker Trojan collects information from the victim's device. The Trojan then interacts discreetly with advertising websites and, without the victim's knowledge, subscribes them to premium services.

According to the Quick Heal report, these applications request notification access at launch, which is then utilised to obtain notification data. After that, the programme takes SMS data from the notification and requests Contacts access. When permission is granted, the app makes and manages phone calls. After that, it keeps working without displaying any malicious behaviour to the user.

Malware authors, according to the cybersecurity firm, propagated these malware applications on the Google Play Store through scanner apps, wallpaper apps, and chat apps. These kinds of programmes can easily become targets. Users are encouraged to stay away from such apps and only use those that they know are safe.
