Scientists reported on Friday that a gigantic fossilized skull dating back at least 140,000 years has been identified as a new species of ancient human, a discovery that could redefine how — and even where — our species, Homo sapiens, originated.      The skull of an adult guy with a large brain, gigantic brow ridges, deep-set eyes, and a bulbous nose was discovered. After a labourer discovered it at a building site in China, it had been hidden in an abandoned well for 85 years.      The new species was given the name Homo longi, and the nickname "Dragon Man" was given to it after the Dragon River region of northeast China, where the skull was discovered.      According to the researchers, Homo longi, not Neanderthals, was the most closely linked extinct human species to our own. If validated, it would affect how scientists see Homo sapiens' origins, which have been built up over time through fossil finds and ancien...

What is the best way for astronauts to do laundry in space? They aren't.      They wear their underwear, exercise clothing, and anything else they have until they can no longer stand the filth and stench, at which point they discard it.      NASA hopes to change that — if not on the International Space Station, then on the moon and Mars — and stop tossing away heaps of soiled garments every year, stuffing them in the garbage and letting them burn up in the atmosphere on rejected cargo ships. As a result, it's collaborating with Procter & Gamble Co. to figure out how to launder astronauts' garments in space so that they may be reused for months or even years, much like on Earth.      The Cincinnati-based firm announced on Tuesday that it will send two Tide detergent and stain-removal experiments to the International Space Station later this year and next year, as part of the galactic fight against filthy and sweaty clothing.    ...

On Thursday, about a month after we witnessed the uncommon phenomena of a total lunar eclipse coupled with a Supermoon and Bloodmoon in the night sky, Earth's natural satellite will appear brighter and bigger than before. The astronomical event is noteworthy for two reasons: first, it is a Strawberry Moon, and second, it is a late Supermoon. Supermoon      The Strawberry Moon is the last Full Moon of spring and the first Full Moon of summer. On June 21, the Northern Hemisphere's summer season began with the Summer Solstice, the year's longest day.      On Thursday, the Moon will appear larger than on other days as it approaches Earth in its orbit, and it will likely be visible for three days in a row. WHEN WILL INDIA BE ABLE TO SEE THE STRAWBERRY MOON?   In India, the Strawberry Moon will be visible until 12.10 a.m., when it will reach its brightest point. The moon will not be seen until it climbs beyond the horizon in the evening a...

Are you someone who is constantly looking for information on the Earth, the Moon, the Sun, and other celestial bodies? Then NASA's latest tweet might be made specifically for you. Even if you're not a space fan, this piece may make you exclaim, "Wow." It depicts the Sun in various wavelengths of light.      Nasa shared the photo via Instagram. They added in the share that the US Postal Service just released stamps with a couple gorgeous images of the Sun. The stamps depict several sorts of solar activity that can be seen on the Sun. GIFs depicting the events were also published by the space agency. NASA's Instagram post of the sun      “Sun images from @nasa's Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft are featured on the stamps, which were released on June 18th. They depict the Sun in various wavelengths of light, highlighting different sorts of solar activity. Some of these solar activities, such as solar flares and coronal mass ejec...

Have you ever wondered what creates auroras, the light shows that light up the skies at Earth's poles? Scientists may have discovered the solution. Solar storms have long been known to create auroras, but the processes that cause them have remained unknown... until now!      Auroras arise on Earth when bursts of charged particles from the Sun collide with our magnetic fields in the atmosphere. Aurora      It turns out that electrons are in charge of the entire operation. Scientists seek to understand the source of such solar outbursts in a new study published in Nature that spans 20 years. What are the effects of solar storms?      Solar storms modify our planet's magnetic field in a variety of ways. The dazzling auroras appear when this happens. Scientists had previously linked this to Alfvén waves, which describe what happens to magnetic fields when they are struck by solar storms, but they were only able to prove...

A spiral galaxy that hides a supermassive Black Hole in its centre, is imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope.      Galaxy NGC 3254 is a collection of planets and stars, characterized by their highly active cores, situated at around 118 million light-years.      With its enormous gravitational power, the black hole at its heart can trap gas, dust, stellar beings and planets in space, photographed with visible and infrared light by Hubble. NASA's Hubble Telescope      While one might think that black holes simply devour everything close by with their massive force, the accumulation of material produces enormous amounts of radiation that releases heat and light.      Scientists compose this image using a light composite from several regions of the spectrum, which partly stops the luminous nucleus from dominating the cosmos in question. Scientists can capture our universe with ultraviolet, visible, and near infra...

A few Google Play Store apps were found to contain the Joker virus. The malware infiltrates a user's device via programmes, silently collects data, and then subscribes these users to premium memberships without the user's knowledge or agreement.      For three years, the Joker Trojan malware has been discovered in Google Play Store apps. Quick Heal Security Labs recently discovered 8 Joker malware on the Google Play Store. These eight apps were reported to Google, and the company has since deleted them all from its store.      The following are the eight apps that have recently been discovered to be infected with the Joker Trojan virus and should be deleted from any Android device: Super SMS Super Message Fast Magic SMS Go Messages Element Scanner Travel Wallpapers Auxiliary Message Free CamScanner        Through SMS messages, contact lists, and device information, the Joker Trojan collects information from the victim...

NASA-led research has discovered that the amount of heat retained by Earth's land, ocean, and atmosphere has doubled in only 14 years, raising concerns about human-caused climate change.      Scientists from NASA and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) discovered that the Earth's energy imbalance nearly quadrupled between 2005 and 2019.      To conclude this result, scientists examined data from two independent measurements: NASA's Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES) and data from Argo, a global network of ocean floats that allows an accurate calculation of the rate at which the world's seas are warming.   Earth's climatic changes may risk life on earth      “The two very separate ways of looking at changes in Earth's energy imbalance are in very, really strong agreement, and they're both showing this very substantial trend,” said Norman Loeb, lead author and chief investigat...
