Microsoft has officially unveiled Windows 11, its next-generation operating system. After Microsoft released Windows 10 in 2015, the operating system was released almost six years later. In the interim, Microsoft unveiled the Windows 10x, although it was eventually cancelled. Windows 11 has a completely new design and significant improvements over its predecessor, Windows 10. The design and user experience have been modified by Microsoft; it is now less cluttered and has more room. Windows 11 is a free upgrade for Windows 10 users.
In contrast to earlier Windows operating systems, the Start menu is now in the centre, with the search bar directly next to it. The Start menu used to be in the left corner of the screen, but it has now been moved to the centre to make it easier for users to find things. Microsoft has also enabled the creation of distinct Desktops for work, gaming, and school. So, let's have a look at some of the other cool features that Windows 11 has to offer.
- Windows 11 has a whole new look. It is modern, clutter-free, spotless, and appealing to the eye. The central Start menu is reminiscent of Apple, yet it is a significant change from the usual style. If users do not like the central location of the Start Menu, they can move it to the left by pressing on Settings.
- In light of the current pandemic, Microsoft has incorporated Chat from Microsoft Teams into the taskbar. Users will be able to communicate with all of their personal contacts across Windows, Android, and iOS via text, chat, voice, or video.
- According to Microsoft, Windows 11 is a gamer's delight. The new operating system includes some of the most cutting-edge gaming technology to provide a smooth gaming experience. “DirectX 12 Ultimate” for beautiful, immersive graphics at high frame rates; DirectStorage for faster load times and more complex gaming environments; and Auto HDR for a wider, more vivid range of colours for a genuinely compelling visual experience are all available in Windows 11. Our commitment to device compatibility has not altered, and Windows 11 continues to support your favourite PC gaming accessories and peripherals. With Xbox Game Pass for PC or Ultimate, players receive access to over 100 high-quality PC games, with new games added all the time, and it's still just as easy to find people to play with, whether they're on a PC or a console,” according to the Microsoft blog.
- Widgets, a customised feed powered by AI, was also introduced in Windows 11. It is a curated window that may present users with the most up-to-date news, weather updates, notifications, and more.
- Microsoft, like Apple, has now included a Microsoft Store to Windows 11, which can be used to download apps and watch video from streaming apps. With curated stories, the company claims it will make content – apps, games, shows, and movies — easier to find and discover. Third-party products such as Visual Studio, Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom, and Canva will be available soon on the Microsoft Store.
- Android apps are also coming to Windows 11. Microsoft is the first company to incorporate Android apps into Windows. Beginning this year, customers will be able to search for and download Android apps in the Microsoft Store and the Amazon Appstore.
- Windows 11 also receives a new touch keyboard from Tenor with built-in GIFs. Voice typing and other functions are also available to users.
- Microsoft is also introducing support for multiple monitors, which will make working on virtual desktops easier for users.
- Snap layouts, Snap Groups, and Desktops were introduced by Microsoft to allow users to multitask. This aids users in organising their windows and optimising their screen real estate so that they can see just what they need in a visually appealing layout.
