Discovery of new human kind of species in China

Scientists reported on Friday that a gigantic fossilized skull dating back at least 140,000 years has been identified as a new species of ancient human, a discovery that could redefine how — and even where — our species, Homo sapiens, originated.      The skull of an adult guy with a large brain, gigantic brow ridges, deep-set eyes, and a bulbous nose was discovered. After a labourer discovered it at a building site in China, it had been hidden in an abandoned well for 85 years.      The new species was given the name Homo longi, and the nickname "Dragon Man" was given to it after the Dragon River region of northeast China, where the skull was discovered.      According to the researchers, Homo longi, not Neanderthals, was the most closely linked extinct human species to our own. If validated, it would affect how scientists see Homo sapiens' origins, which have been built up over time through fossil finds and ancien...

New relaxations for e-registration in Tamil Nadu have been announced.

The Tamil Nadu government said on Sunday that the lockdown will be extended until June 28 and that some travel restrictions would be implemented, dividing the districts into three categories. Public transportation is allowed with 50% occupancy in buses and government buses in the third category, which includes Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengelpet. Inter-district transportation between these four districts will be permitted with a 50% occupancy limit.

Rentable autos, taxis, and auto-rickshaws can operate in these four districts without the need for passengers to complete an e-registration form. However, three passengers other than the driver are permitted in taxis, and two passengers other than the driver are permitted in auto rickshaws.

TN government has announced some relaxation

In these four districts, transportation services affiliated to facilities offering shelter for kids, juveniles, physically disabled, and old age homes can function without e-registration, as can personnel employed in juvenile detention homes/centers.

While existing travel restrictions will be in place in the 11 districts hardest hit by Covid-19, such as the public being allowed to travel in rented cars, taxis, and auto-rickshaws, as well as the movement of private security service staff and housekeeping staff in apartment complexes, electricians, plumbers, and carpenters after e-registration, travel in the other two categories will be restricted.

Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Thanjavur, Erode, Tirupur, Karur, Salem, Namakkal, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and Nagapattinam are the eleven districts. The above limitations on travel also apply to the remaining 23 districts in the second category.

Inter-district travel between districts is permitted for wedding events, except in the 11 worst-affected districts, if an e-pass is obtained. E-passes can be obtained online from the district collector's office in the district where the event is being held at https://eregister.tnega.org.

A wedding will be limited to only 50 guests.

For emergency visits to places like the Kodaikanal, Nilgiris, Yercaud, Courtallam and Yelagiri, an e-pass must be obtained from the respective district collector.
